Re: Problem with Security patch install for MOSS

I've got a similar problem (I installed the security patch in a fresh
installation). The configuration wizard fails at step 10.
The log says: >>An exception of type System.InvalidOperationException
was thrown. Additional exception information: Cannot open log for
source 'SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard'.
You may not have write access.<<
Afterwards psconfiggui.exe is killed. Surprisingly - until now - I
didn't discover any limitations of the WSS service (it is however a
fresh installation). I guess it has still something to do with the
SPAdmin problem mentioned in KB934525. But that's just a guess.
I didn't find a solution until now - help is appreciated.

Michael

I am working on an installation of Project Server 2007 with
SharePoint
2007 Enterprise Edition. I recently tried installing the SharePoint
security patch on our development environment but was unable to
complete the installation as the SharePoint Installation and
Configuration Wizard fails with an error of step 8 or 9 (hard to say
if it's the end of step 8 or at the start of step 9).
There error dialog indicates that the configuration
"Failed to upgrade SharePoint Products and Technologies.
An exception of type
Microsoft.SharePoint.PostSetupConfiguration.PostSetupConfigurationTaskExcep

was thrown. Additional exception information: Failed to upgrade
SharePoint Products and Technologies."
There is a log refered to but after delving into it you find exactly
the same exception message.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? Has anyone got any
suggestions to work around it or resolve it as the project server
instance no longer recognises the site collection it was installed
under so I can't provision workspaces for projects anymore or load
site templates using stsadm.exe

Kirk.
