I configured my web application to forms authentication which uses a
commerceserver profile provider for authentication. Everything is
working fine, I can login in to the site using the email and password.
However I am having problem when I am trying to add users the site, my
custom provider takes email and password to authenticate and adding
users to site requires user name.

How can I add email id in the user names place, my site collection is
not able to read users from the custom provider when I provide the
email id.

Any help would be appreciated.

How are you trying to add the user?
How did you add the user that it's working correctly for?
Can't you add a username to your custom provider or pass part of the
email as the username?

I have a custom aspx page with registration control that registers a
new user. Of course my job would be easier if the custom provider also
takes user name, however there are some complexities with that for
another application.

Everything is okay with configuration, the only problem is I cannot
assign roles to the users until I add them to user groups which I am
not able to do using email ids.

Thanks for the reply
