\viewkind4\uc1\pard\f0\fs20 Hi Lem,
\par
\par Thank you for posting here.
\par
\par Based on my knowledge, this issue can be caused by the User Authentication setting in Internet Explorer security zone. I suggest we perform the following steps to resolve this issue.
\par
\par Step 1: Add the SharePoint site to the trusted site
\par ==============================
\par 1. Open Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options
\par 2. On the Security tab, click Trusted and click Sites
\par 3. Add the URL of the SharePoint site to the trusted sites list.
\par 4. Click the "Custom Level" button under Trusted security zone
\par 5. Scroll down to the button and select "Automatically Logon with current user name and password"
\par 6. Click OK and restart Internet Explorer to check if the issue is resolved.
\par
\par More information
\par --------------------
\par Internet Explorer May Prompt You for a Password

\par
\par Please check if the issue can be resolved. If the issue doesn't disappear, please check the Authentication type of the IIS virtual server.
\par
\par Step 2: Check Authentication type
\par ======================
\par It is a known issue that the user will be prompted with login credentials when accessing the SharePoint Explorer View or opening documents stored in the SharePoint libraries. Therefore, please check the authentication type of this web application.
\par
\par 1. Open the IIS Manager, and right click the IIS website on which the SharePoint web application is hosted.
\par 2. Point to Properties.
\par 3. Click the Directory Security tab, and click the Edit button.
\par 4. Ensure only Integrated Windows authentication is checked.
\par
\par More information
\par -------------------
\par You are prompted to enter your user name and your password when you open an Office document in SharePoint Server 2007, in SharePoint Portal Server 2003, or in Windows SharePoint Services

\par
\par If the above steps do not help in resolving this issue, I'd like to collect the following information for further research.
\par
\par 1. Does this issue occur when accessing the companyweb site from intranet?
\par 2. Does this issue occur on all client computers?
\par 3. Does this issue only occur on Windows Vista-based computers?
\par 4. What's the version of Office client program on the problematic computer?
\par
\par If anything is unclear, please feel free to let me know. I'll be happy to be of assistance.
\par
\par Sincerely,
\par Alex Xie
