Problem with Search option

Hi All,

I'm having a problem with the search option of my portal ... When I
use the "Advance Search" at top right top corner it doesn't give me
any result ... I know the file is there ...

- Check your spelling. Are the words in your query spelled correctly?
- Try using synonyms. Maybe what you're looking for uses slightly
different words.
- Make your search more general. Try more general terms in place of
specific ones.
- Try your search in a different scope. Different scopes can have
different results.

It is probably a problem with the crawl settings but like I'm a
newbies with SharePoint I don't know where to look.
