Re: Prompted to login again when switching to explorer view or opening office doc

I have tried putting the sites in both "trusted sites" and "local intranet" I have tried on two different MOSS installations and one WSS installation. It is not working on 7 different Vista Clients. But does work on 1 Vista client and xp clients. I can not find any IE settings that are unique. I have seen other postings where people are having similar problems. But I have not seen any resolutions.

Yes I am using Windows integrated authentication only. I have also tried using Kerberos.

Yes, I can verify that trusted sites has been effective in delivering
the necessary access to users. Another thought occurred to me as well.
Are you using the default iis configuration of Windows integrated
authentication only? or is there some other type of access? are you
using ntlm or kerberos for access? Just a couple more areas for you to
poke around. Have you had any luck resolving this as yet?

(No problem)

I have also heard of Ben's point. I suggested to someone that his clients
would solve something similar with adding the site to their Trusted sites
and he came back to me with a message saying that Trusted sites hadn't
worked but Intranet (I think it was Intranet it was something that to my
mind was "less" than Trusted) had worked.

Worth trying alternatives to trusted sites even if they seem less than
logical. (IE7 is odd in some ways)

Sorry Mike you are right I should have waited longer to bump.
Ben,
Yes I have IE 7 on both computers. I have the sites added to trusted
sites on both computers. I have also tried about every combination of
security settings I can think of.
The frustrating thing is all the users in my organization are being
prompted to login when opening an office doc or switching to explorer view
in sharepoint.

If
I login everything works fine. If i hit cancel the I do not get the
explorer view. Also if I try to open an office document I am prompted
to
login again as well. This happens on my Vista\office 2007 client
computer.
If I am on my XP\Office 2007 client computer my pass through
authentication works as expected and I am not prompted for my user
name
and password when opening explorer view or opening an office document.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Are you using IE 7 on both computers? Do you have the Site added to
intranet or trusted sites in either instance? There were some changes
in the behavior of trusted sites in IE7 that may or may not be
effecting this.
