Yes. You need Kerberos or SSO.

OK. I find myself finally stumbling across a post that might be of help. I'm
having exactly the same problem and am trying to use Windows authentication.
Is it really the case that you have to use SSO to get this to work? Or is
there a way to use windows authentication? I had an authentication issue a
few months back with an ASP.net app i was writing to communicate with a SQL
server. I couldn't get windows authentication working between servers. It was
suggested that Kerberos delegation was the way to get around this. It sounds
as though this may be required here. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
Thanks,
Grant

I am using Windows Authentication with everything installed on a single

infact a VPC. Can you point me a link for the configuration of kerberos
in sharepoint.
