Search not working in MOSS 2007

Hi

Im having problems getting the search to work in MOSS 2007
(12.0.4518.1014)
Im running a farm setup with one machine running all the services.

I have created a publishing site and when i try to search for something
i get an "Unknown Error".
When I go to the site settings to setup "Search scopes" or "Search
keywords" i get an "Unknown Error".
When I create a team site and try to search for something i get an
"Unknown Error".

When try to search for something I get no error in the event log.
When i start the search service on the server i get no error in the
event log.
When i remove the search service from the server i get the following
errors in the event log:

Volume Shadow Copy Service information: The COM Server with CLSID
{4e14fba2-2e22-11d1-9964-00c04fbbb345} and name CEventSystem cannot be
started. [0x800401f0]

Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error calling routine
CoCreateInstance. hr = 0x800401f0.

Does anybody know what I can do find out what is wrong? Im clueless.
