Hello gary,
Are you doing this on Beta 2 or Beta 2 TR? I ran into the same problem for Beta 2. It appears mine failed on the Mysites migration because i have some of the mysites site collections in the web application. I'll be trying the upgrade again on TR tonight. Let's see if I have better luck.

I am attempting to do this, and have had a few issues. I'm wondering
if anyone has gotten this to work.
- I tried the basic series of events with marginal success:
1. Restore a backup of the _SITE database into the MOSS 2007 SQL
Server backend
2. Create the Web application (port 80)
* I did NOT create a site collection, just created the web
application
3. Use the command line tool to add the V2 content database
The upgrade runs for quite a while, and then I get a conflict message
(I can supply this if it would be helpful, but it's pretty generic).
The content database _does_ show up in central admin, however, even
though the upgrade poops out. If I then attempt to view the site
itself, it comes up, but looks wonky and some of the content is
missing.
- I'm assuming the Web application needs to come first, and then the
content db to be upgraded should be added. Should the site collection
also be created before attempting to add the content db to be
upgraded?
Any insight would be great!
Thanks,
Gary
.
