Re: Business Data Catalog (BDC) -- Does Not Work -- Sharepoint 200

Has anyone gotten this to work? I'm having the same problems trying to use
the sample XML for AdventureWorks in the SharePoint 2007 SDK.

Hello Everyone,

For more info I have the following:

The domain\user account and the NT Authority\Network Service have the
following grant permissions:
- TSQL Local Machine
- TSQL Named Pipes
- TSQL Default TCP
- TSQL Default VIA

Also both have Permission to Connect to Database engine set to Grant
and Login enabled.

They both have the following server roles:
dbcreator
securityadmin
sysadmin

The domain\user has the addition server role:
serveradmin

I am still getting the Login Failed errors with SharePoint 2007 Event
Log Viewer. I also checked the SQL Server 2005 database error log and
it has the same error.

I am at a complete loss. Any help in the right directory would be
appreciated.

Thanks for your replies and your help,
Bill

Hello Brett/All,

I am still not having any luck with the BDC. I set the permissions for
my network log in and for the NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE to have
rights to the database, but still get an error of Login failed for user
'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE'. [CLIENT: <local machine>] when
Application Settings->Server process account for the BDC is selected
or I get the error: Login failed for user
'domain\UserName'[CLIENT: <local machine>] when Logged-on user is
checked.

I am still not certain what I am doing wrong. Thanks for the help.

The problem is the application has no rights to access the datasource. This
has to do with Single Sign-on. Basically the account the application runs
under needs access to the data source. Go to:

SSP>BDC Applications>Application>Change Settings.

The fastest way to get this working just so you can see it is to give the
account sharepoint is running under access to the database.

From there you can start messing around with Single sign-on credentials,
etc.

Hello,

I am working with Sharepoint 2007 beta and I am trying to get the
Business Data Catalog (BDC) to work. I created the metadata xml using
MOSS BDC MetaData Manager created by Todd S. Baginski. Then I added the
Business Data List web part to a page, selected the application built
by the MetaData Manager and get this error on the page:

"Unable to connect to LOBInstance"

I am not sure why this happens.

I also tried to change the application to use Database credentials from
Single Sign-on without any luck and still get an error.

If you could point me in the right direction or possibly know what I am
doing wrong it is appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help,
William Miller
