Sharepoint Portal Server 2003 and valid Windows NT name

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I have a SQL 2000 database server (DBServer) and a Win2003 Web server
(WebServer)
They are connected with a crossover cable.
The WebServer will be running Sharepoint Portal Server 2003. When I create
the a Portal site I get an error that the username specified to create the
content database is not a valide Windows NT name.
I tried everything and have no success. These machines are not part of any
AD network and are purely standalone.

When I enter DBServer\spsadmin as the Username in the "Configure Server Farm
Account Setting" it fails. When I use WebServer\spsAdmin it accepts the name
but fails when I create the portal becauseWebServer\spsAdmin can not create
a database on DBServer.

How can I get this to work?

Thanks
