If you check out your portal central administration, you can identify
your SQL Server by clicking "Configure Server Topology." You should
also check your configuration under Component Configuration (again on
Central Admin) -> Manage Search Service. Another question, are you
able to access the SQL Server remotely.... let's make sure you even
have access to the box. Again, this should have no bearing on the page
you are having issues accessing.
Are there any peculiar environment configurations that we should know
about?
It might be worthwhile to run a network monitor or check the log files
to see what is causing your prompt for authentication.... Just a
troubleshooting method.

Nope...just me and another admin. No on separate for SQL. I did just find
that I am not able to configure full-text indexing. The error I receive is
that the database the server is using does not support search. I am running
SQL 200 SP4. How do I know which database SP is using and how do I set it up
for search? Any thoughts?

Could be... Do you have separate SQL Administrators in your Org? They
might have locked you down.... This isnt a normal thing so I would say
something was
"reconfigured"

Yes, I can access some of the other admin pages such as manage users and
alert settings. Anything search related will not let me in. No other admins
can access it either. No special UI or anything like that either. It is
very confusing to me. Maybe a SQL server issue???

Very odd... That page doesnt even access a different port as Central
administration does. "_layouts/1033/SearchSettings.aspx"
Are you able to get to any of the other admin pages? Manage Search
Scopes? Manage Users? Alert Settings?
Are you using any custom UI that might be causing the prompt for
authentication from another server? Sometimes its just a hardcoded
image being the problem child. If you're domain admin, that should be
the end all for permissions on the portal.
Are you the only Admin and the only person that cant access?

I am trying to access the Configure Search and Indexing page from the Site
Settings page from our portal. Whenever I try to log in my credentials are
not accepted. I am logging in using our domain administrator account which
also has local admin rights on the sharepoint server. In addition this
account is a member of the sharepoint master group that is set up on the
sharepoint configuration. The error I keep receiving is that I do not have
authorization to view the page, please see your network administrator. The
issue is that I am the network administrator.
