Hi Rashid

Did you ever work out a solution to your problem?

I have the same issue and think I have worked out why members appear not to
be online.

Unfortunately it’s based on where your document library is created in the
portal hierarchy.

For some reason that only Microsoft knows if you create a doc library in a
area created from any template other than inheriting form the parent template
(Home template) then online collaboration will not work. Eg the URL would
look like this. http://yoursite/Your
Area/Document%20Library/Forms/AllItems.aspx.

If the library is in the root of the home area eg http://Your
Site/Document%20Library/Forms/AllItems.aspx then viola online collaboration
works.

Basically if your site has already been generated from a different template
you are stuffed. The only way around it is to make the area inherit the
parent template again and recreate the doc library. Warning, any area
customisation or web parts will not be there if you change the template the
area is using to inherit the parent template.

So you may want to test this on a test area.

Easy way to see if my thoughts are correct is to load a document into the
portal from the home area document library and open it to see if the shared
workspace now has users offline and online. (You get to the uploaded it from
clicking on manage content in the left hand nav and opening document library)

Hope this helps if you have not already worked it out.

Thanks Gary for the tip, but site is already part of trusted site list.

BTW I read some where that you need some kind of Messanager service
(windows, MSN, Exchnage) in order to use the above feature. Do you have any
idea about it.

Thanks

Hi: Gurus,

When I checked out a document; on the right hand side we have a shared
workspace area that shows Online and Not Online members status. For some
reason I can't see any member under Online even though some of the members
are logged on and working currently. The workspace always shows all the
current members under NotOnline status. Any rememdy.

Thanks in advance..
