Re: Custom templates not visible

Ronnie,

My problem is with an area in Sharepoint Portal Server 2003. I
tried the solutions below but still no luck. I have a number of .STP
files setup which noone but the admin can see. I can't see where to set
the permissions for the individual .STP files.

Thank you again for you help,
Scott

I am assuming you are having this problem in Sites. The list gallery in
a site (and its the same in Portal) is nothing more than a Custom List
- however it is set by default to not inherit permissions. Follow the
steps outlined in
http://spsstuff.blogspot.com/2006/02/cant-view-custom-templates-in-wss.html
to change this. If you are having the problem on the portal follow the
steps in
http://spsstuff.blogspot.com/2006/03/setting-unique-permissions-for-lists.html
to change permissions for the list gallery

There is also a bug in SharePoint whereby if users other than
Administrators create Workspaces using custom templates, you get a
"Error - This form is not available for this list, discussion board,
survey, or document library." error. Follow the steps in
http://spsstuff.blogspot.com/2006/03/error-creating-workspace-based-on.html
to workaround this problem.

Hope that helps

Yes ... the NTFS security is a match. The only way I can get the
templates to show up is to put everyone in the administrator's group.
Definitely not a viable solution. I checked the permissions on the
other groups and it looks like they should be able to see the custom
templates but there's something I'm missing, just not sure what.

Thank you,
Scott

Verify your NTFS security matches your old server.

Everyone,

I'm having trouble with Sharepoint templates not showing up for
non-admin users. We recently switched Active Directory domains and now
the templates are not showing up for users who are not administrators.
I saw another article which posed a solution of making users into
"Content Managers". I tried that but to no avail. Has anyone run across
this problem and do they have a solution? I'm not sure if Active
Directory is the cause but it's looking like a likely candidate.

Thank you in advance for your assistance/advice,
