Thanks for the info. I'm an admin, but the actual server is sitting
physically in a different location with someone else managing it. I'll ask
him to help.

You have to be an admin on the server or be the site collection administrator.
to see the siteusrs.aspx screen. It is not the same as user.aspx. Can you
have a server admin check it out? Or request to be set as site collection
admin for the site?

What's odd is that I'm an "Administrator" and I don't have access to
the path you mentioned.
However, I *DO* have access to "_layouts/1033/User.aspx". Would this
be the same thing?
If "_layouts/1033/User.aspx" is the same page you are referring to
then yes, I have removed the users from this screen, but they still
show up in the list of users when I navigate to an area and go to the
"Manage Security" screen.
Funky, eh?

Have you checked this screen yet?

Be sure the accounts are removed from that page as well.

I have my SharePoint portal set up to use domain accounts for
logins. When I add new users I have to enter them as
"DOMAINNAME\networkname".
We've had employees leave the company and their domain accounts have
been deleted in Active Directory. They still show up in SharePoint.
If I go to an area I created, hit MANAGE SECURITY and try to remove
them I get the error: "Could not find user with corresponding SID in
the domain". They remain listed in the security.
If I go to HOME->"Manage Users" to get the full list of users, can
remove them here, but they STILL show up in the security pages for
my areas and I still get the same error. Is there a way to remove
them?
I know I'll probably get people telling me that in the future I need
to delete users frmo SharePoint before deleting them on my network
and I plan on doing so, but SharePoint is something I've inherited
recently so we have a lot of existing users like this.
Is there any kind of hack to the SQL Server database I can perform
which will remove these users?
