Re: Incorrect regional setting EVERYWHERE - reinstall?!

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

You can re-install sharepoint and then re-attach your databases , but when
you install Sharepoint it should take the time from the local machine and
then straight away you should check the regional settings in the portal
virtual server. However if your customized Site templates are all using the
1033 language then they will always be in US. I am not sure how to re-set my
sites , it must be possible but someone who understands the mysite code
would have to tell you that.

We have 2 front end servers and an index server - all are set to UK
(control
panel>regional and language options). All regional settings within
Sharepoint are set to UK. I can change the teamsite templates but would
still have the MySite problem.

Can we reinstall SharePoint and reconnect to our current db? Is the
regional setting part of the installation?

cheers

Have you tried checking all your regional settings on the actual server -
then setting it in each virtual server , plus as you said changing your
Top
Level team sites to the correct timezone and your templates ? The
question
is do you want to go through all that or is it as easy to rebuild. If you
have little or no data I would just restart but if you have a lot of data
then I would try and get my regional settings sorted out first.

This is an expansion on a different post of mine.

I have discovered that every team site template is in USA English not
UK
(therefor EVERY date is in the wrong format). Although it is
relatively
simple to disable the generic templates and create new ones in UK, I
have
now
discovered that every MySite is also in US English.

Rather than fudge a work around, I would rather start with the correct
settings. Is there ANY way I can sort this without a reinstall and,
is
the
regional settings part of the installation (my partners company are
starting
to use WSS and their team sites are all in UK.

cheers
