Search does not work after removing and reattaching sharepoint box from domain

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

Hi all, I am desperate for help here.

This is the scenario:
I had to remove a sharepoint box from one domain to another and the
searching no longer works. It indexes content but no searching results
are brought back.

This is what has happened so far:
1. removed the sharepoint box from the old domain
2. attached the box to the new domain.
3. Had to reinstall Sharepoint at that point for some reason
4. restored the portal from an spsbackup
5. Removed the old users from the old domain and added new users from
the new domain (in both portal and all wss site collection levels)
6 Reindexed both portal and non portal catalogues

PROB:
Indexing seems to have 80,000 odd entries in each of the indexes but
when i seaarch, no results are shown to the user.

I tried the MigrateUserAccount api call to migrate OLDDOMAIN\user1 to
NEWDOMAIN\User1 but did not make any difference.

Has anyone been through this scenario?.

My only way out of this is to rebuild the machine and reimport all
content with a content loading tool that we have built.

Any suggestions or pointers? I would appreciate any help.

Regards,

Sergio
