Thanks for the info. I had to add the Sharepoint account I was using to the
admin group on th SQL server as well. Once I did that the restore went
smoothly. So far everything looks good. Thanks again for replying.

Hello, here is my situation. I am trying to move Sharepoint to a new
server. I have a small farm with one front end web server running the
job, search, etc. and one backend SQL server. I want to replace the web
server with a newer more powerful box.
Here is what I have done. I installed Sharepoint onto new server. I had
it create a new config DB. I created a web site in IIS and named it the
same as the site on the old server. When I installed Sharepoint I used
the same accounts I used on the original. Both installs are the same
version(SP1). The default file location in both web sites is the
same(C:\Intetpub\wwwroot). The install path of Sharepoint is the same on
both servers.
I open Sharepoint admin and click on Create Portal at which point I have
the option to restore. I choose this and my SQL server is selected and I
type in the name of the the 3 existing DB's(SITE, PROF, SERV). I then
select the website I created to extend in to. I hit ok and after a couple
seconds I get the error that the portal restore failed. I look through
the log and see the following entry..Obviously I am missing something.
Can someone help me out with what account it is referring to? Again I
used the same domain account used on the original install. This account
does have admin rights of the server. Thanks much.
