Bill probably meant export it as a list template. This will work great, if
you have under 10mb in the library. otherwize,you wont be able to export it
as template with the contents.

however, if you have more than 10mb, you can do it in two steps:
1. create a view that shows all custom metadata in the library, and export
the library as template without the content (with out the files). Then
create the library in the portal from the template. this will make sure you
have the same fields in both libraries.

*before you do the second step described below, try just copy and paste a
document with meta data between the libraries using the explorer view. I
dont recall if that works. if it doesnt, continue to next step:
2. open the two lists in two seperate IE windows - side by side. switch both
windows to the view that shows all fields, and then switch to datasheet
view. now you can just copy and paste the metadata as if it was in excel.

Hi all,

We had a document library get deleted. We have restored the portal
from backup to another server and want to copy the document libaby back
to the original portal. How do we do this without loosing the meta
data associated with the documents?
