Re: Portal Server, WSS List Update/Insert Error

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I've resolved this issue... It was a third party accelerator that installed a
trigger into the PORTAL_SITE database. The trigger didn't have permissions
to access the tables, so all of the List stored procedures were rolling back.

Hi,
You know today I've had the same problem. But while I was trying to resolve
this it disapeared. One thing I've noticed that the production Sharepoint web
server was low on the disk space on drive C:\

Ok, it doesn't have anything to do with the fact that we increased the size
of the databases... We just restored from a backup before we grew the
databases. The problem still persists.

Thanks for the try... but the problem still exists after doing this.

What happened was we grew the PORTAL_SITE Database to 100 gigs for growth
room in SQL SERVER 2000...

We believe that this may have caused the problem but can't be certain.
Another strange behavior... I can add a column to a list, but I cannot
delete a column from a list.

getting lost...

-Thanks again

This is a Sharepoint Portal Server 2003 install connected to SQL Server
2000
on another machine.

Ok, any time i try to add or update ANY list items - Announcements, Links,
Events, etc...

It takes me to this page with this error:
http://SERVERNAME/SITE/_vti_bin/owssvr.dll?CS=109

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Error

SQL Server Error

The SQL Server might not be started.

Troubleshoot issues with Windows SharePoint Services.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

SQL SERVER IS DEFINITELY STARTED... i can navigate everywhere and see
prexisting list items

I can still upload documents, create new lists, and edit portal areas and
subareas... Basically it can still insert into UserData, List tables... I
just can't add any items to ANY lists...

Any ideas?

I have a feeling it might be a problem with the stored procedure
proc_AddListItem... It must be bombing out somewhere... But we have been
able
to do it before.

Thanks,
Jack
