When you do go there to manage the security, be sure to remove the
"Readers" group. All people with "read" access to the portal will have
read access to all the areas that have the "readers" group in the
manage security page.

When I give a User "Read" access at the portal through "Manage Users", he
also gets "Read" access to all Top and Sub-level sites. How can I prevent
