The reverse works.
SQL with SP4 applied, SPS front-end web server with SQL client tools at SP3,
mainly because I forgot to apply SP4 to the SPS FE server until last week!!!
Backups worked OK, didn't need to restore, but it ought to work as
SPSbackup.exe uses are a couple of dll's installed with the client tools...
Performing an SQL backup to a server with SP4, using client tools at SP3,
works fine...
