SBS 2003 SharePoint question

Geez, I think I'm posting to the right board. I've searched high and low for
information on what I am trying to accomplish. I have a brand new Small
Business Server 2003 installation. IIS is up-and-running. I think
SharePoint is as well. I can access the Administration page. My company's
domain name points to the Default Web Site. I've got FrontPage 2003 running
on one of the client computers and I am trying to publish my web site to the
server from within FrontPage. First of all, it simply DOES NOT work if I try
to publish to the actual domain name of the company web site (please be aware
that I CAN browse to my domain name in IE). If I try to publish to
http://local_server_name I get a username/password prompt. I input my domain
username/password and it isn't accepted... nor does it error out. The
username/password screen simply comes back.
Up until this point I was thrilled with SBS 2003. The install was a breeze.
Exchange Server is up-and-running smoothly. Remote Web Workplace and VPN
both work great. External users can browse to my company domain name in IE
and view the SBS 2003 default web site. Why can't I publish with FrontPage??
Having to publish to http://local_sever_name really isn't a good solution
(though as I described, that doesn't work either). I want and need to be
able to publish to http://www.companydomainname.com/.
I hope that I am posting this question to a suitable board. I'll admit, I
am somewhat behind the 8-ball on this topic. But I simply cannot find the
right place to go to learn more.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
