You are right it can be a bit of planning issue with bringing DMZ's into the
picture. Depending on the Firewalls ability there can be several options
such as having the complete sharepoint farm in the DMZ , but like I said you
have to weigh up all the pro's and con's and asses the firewalls
capabilities. ISA 2004 is an ideal firewall to have in front of a Sharepoint
farm due to its ability to support multiple networks each with its own
unique Routing and Access rules. Also it has the ability to use Link state
translation which could help users who are accessing content from the
extranet. You also have to consider the fact the external users will be
using SSL whereas internal users usually will not and that brings about
further configuration issues with Sharepoint.
