Hi David , From my experience one way to get good info on search results and
queries is indeed to use the IIS logs from the web front end server ,
getting a decent Log viewer tool can be useful :
http://www.iisfaq.com/Default.aspx?tabid=2550
Or getting the logs into SQL using log parser for example.
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/scriptcenter/tools/logparser/default.mspx
Once the info is in QL you can use any decent query and filter tool such as
Crystal reports or SQL reporting services.
I do not recommend you try and extract the IIS logs straight into a SQL
dbase from the WFE server , this will actually have a performance hit on the
server. Get the IIS logs created on the WFE server and then use Log Parser
to get them into SQL.
Cheers for Now
