not sure if its any help, but on my installation I use
http://exchangeservernetbiosname/exchange for the mail server address
entry not the fqdn and for the mailbox, even though domain logons are
surnamefirstinitial format, when specifying in the web part we use
firstnamefirstletterofsurname. Eg steven smith logs on as smiths to
the domain but when specifying his mailbox in the web part, he would
uses steves
we have a seperate exchange 2k3 server, shareint portal and sql2k are
on a member server

hope you kinda follow that, works for us a nd took a bit of playing
around to get rid of the login box.
