Re: Host WSS separate from SPS?

OK, we have a small intranet built on SPS and CMS that is hosted on one web
server. I know SPS is built on top of WSS, but currently we don't use WSS to
create "sharepoint/team sites", WSS is only used for creating portal areas
etc.
Now we are looking into using the full potential of WSS to create sharepoint
sites for projects and so on. That will increase the load on the web server,
therefore we might need another server.
What we can to is a to add a second web server and set up load balancing,
but that will also force us to buy additional CMS and SPS licenses. Therefore
I'm looking into deploying WSS on a different server; that way we will only
need one additional windows license which is less expensive than a CMS and a
SPS license.
