Putting up an extranet is inherently taxing on administrative efforts. There is no doubt that there is additional AD account support needed for an extranet. It's just how the game works these days. Since you'll be using two different farms, you'll have two sets of data - and a one-way indexing of that data. I think you should re-think your design to somehow eliminate account creation mode.
