I've just seen a later comment that there already was a statement for .pps
files and that *removing* it (not replacing it) meant that when clicked "IE
prompts you to Open / Save etc so the user can then save to his desktop as a
PPS".

It's worth looking at this file at least for *possible* help with your
problem.
