before i wanted to write a proposal at work, i did try out at my home.
i dont know why people are suggesting you cannot (though im pretty sure
not all the features will be available)
it was a long time ago therefore my memory has been faded away but if i
remember correctly,
you need to install
1. windows 2003 sever (you can get 180 day evaluation copy from
microsoft for free)
2. windows sql server (this has to be installed prior to sharepoint)
3. sharepoint 2003 portal server (i think you can download 120 day
evaluation copy)
in that order. btw, i am not so sure MSDE would work as smooth as
MSSQL.
it is possible and ive done it. good luck!
