We have an SPS server for test and production - both SPS installations have
their own separate SQL server.
My goal is to backup the SQL databases using SQL Enterprise Manager on a
scheduled task in both TEST and PRODUCTION.
Question:
(1) Can I restore the same database from TEST to PROD - EVEN if the
Database name in SQL are different? Actual data and Tables are same,
accounts used are same, ONLY difference is the databse names.
(2) What is the best way or alternative to accomplish what I am trying to
do - RESTORE TEST to PRODUCTION with different database name but same
content?
(3) Is the SPS Backup tool only for the database/SPS server it was ran on -
meaning - can I do the restore to another SPS Server - or does it have to be
the same server I backed up from?
Thanks!
