Sharepoint Internet site fails once a week

This is an ongoing problem that I've been unable to solve. Every
Friday night, the company internet site fails. The url is valid, but
what is returned on the page is HTTP 400 - Bad Request. We've
eliminated many services (backups, sql jobs, IIS recycling apps) as the
culprit. The event messages are as follows:

At this point, it's looking like these are just a symptom of the actual
site not working. We have evidence that the _site database is smaller
in size after it fails.

At one point the admin password was changed, but we followed MS KB
837813 to make sure all permissions were correct. We have also
applied/followed the MS KB's 886676, 837813, 317746, 841876, 301049.

This does not occur on any other sites (intranet, etc.). The only
difference is this site uses cascading style sheets.
Any help or advise would be appreciated!
