Appreciate the help so far! You are on to something. To answer your question
below: Yes, when working from my desk, the page starts to render and then
pops up for login info. SO, I remembered that during the conversion to SPS,
when publishing the site, I received an error message concerning fphover
class items. On my opening page there is ONE hover button. I removed it and
FROM MY WORKSTATION, for the first time since the conversion, I was able to
go to the site and NOT supply logon info. In addition, there is a virtual web
inside this main web that has been completely unaccessable, even when I
supplied by administrator login information. After removing the hover button,
this page too was available now. NOW for the bad news: I went to another
workstation and the success was not global! I believe my workstation was
using Windows Authentication to allow me in. From the other workstation and
from outside the network, users do not get the page rendering, and they are
prompted for for login, password and domain before any of the page begins to
load. If you cancel, it loads the "You are not authorized to view this page".
>From outside the network and from inside on other workstations, I can supply
the administrator login and password and and gain access to the web site.
(When I try to open the web with FrontPage & login as administrator, I get
the files and folders within the web in the navigation view, but each file
has a dot next it and when I try to edit, it asks about "checking it out" and
that I can only get read-only access.
Sorry for the length. I really need to get this thing back on track. It is a
school web site and the parents have access to students' grades when it is
working. The darn phone and my e-mail won't stop since it has been down
(almost a week now!)
Thanks for any assistance!
