Hi Thierry,

Thank you for your posting.

>From your post, my understanding on this issue is: You cannot find results
with the search when you are trying to do a search from the Portal to find
documents in WSS. If I'm off base, please feel free to let me know.

This problem can be resolved by following the steps below:

1. Go to Start>All Programs>SharePoint Portal Server>SharePoint
Central Administration and under Server Configuration, click on Configure
Server Farm Account Settings.

2. Have the customer add a user account with Local Administrator
rights for the Default Content Access Account.

3. Go to SharePoint Portal Server and Start>All
Programs>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Local Users and Groups
and Groups.

4. Add the user account as a member of SPS_WPG, STS_WPG, and IIS_WPG

5. Go into Start>All Programs>Microsoft SQL Server>Enterprise Manager
and expand to go to the Local database and open the Security folder,
right-click and select New Login... add the user account, and in the Server
Roles Tab check off Systems Administrator, Security Administrator, Database
Creator, and in the Database Access Tab select public and db_creator for
each of the databases Servername1_PROF, Servername1_SERV, Servername1_Site
and SPS01_Config_db.

6. Reset the content index for Non-Portal Content, and Portal Content.

7. Do full update on Non-Portal Content, and Portal Content.

Please perform the steps at your earliest convenience. If you have any
questions or concerns, feel free to drop me a line. I look forward to
hearing back from you.

Hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Jacky Gu

Hi !
I've started experiencing an unusual problem regarding Sharepoint 2003s
searching.
For some reason all non-portal content is not being returned in the search
results.
The index works fine, and I am getting pages that exist on the portal...but
non from web and fileshare content sources. I tried various users including
a domain admin (no problems getting to the files via windows
explorer)...but
none worked.
This has worked in the past but has 'suddenly' stopped. Everything else
appears to work as normal.
Thanks in advance.
