REPOST: Login Prompt

The client machines are not part of the domain.
I have already added the portal site as trusted sites.
When a user at that machine accesses SPS2003, it prompts
for authentication as expected. However, when the user
tries to click on documents like MS word, it just prompts
for authentication again. It is really annoying. However
can I get rid of the second prompt? Thanks again.
