Hi,
I'm afraid that you are doing it wrong and there's no way to achieve your
requirement if the files are of some file types such as .doc, .xls, .ppt,
txt, and .htm.
If you are using WSS, if you disabele SQL full-text search, the search
doesn't work since Windows SharePoint Services search only works when SQL
full-text search is installed. Also, by default, SQL full-text search can
search the file content for file type .doc, .xls, .ppt, .txt and .htm.
If you are using SPS, it uses the search features included in the
SharePoint Portal Server to search and the following file type iFilters are
installed by default that the file contents can be searched by SPS:
1. Microsoft Office documents
2. Microsoft Publisher files
3. Visio files
4. HTML files
5. Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) files
6. Text files
You can install some third-party iFilters on SPS server so that you are
able to search other file types such as PDF. However, you cannot remove the
default installed ones.
Therefore, I'm afraid that you cannot search the documents by searching its
name and properties only.
I hope this helps.
Have a nice day!
Best regards,
Sarah Lu
