Hi Anand,

The expected behaviour in Outlook/Sharepoint is that you will only get the
error "The link could not be created. You cannot connect to a Windows
SharePoint Services site with an Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders file
(.pst)." when you are trying to link SharePoint information into Outlook,
such as an events calendar.

SharePoint Portal or Windows SharePoint Services only support the use of
the Unicode PST format so what happens is that we check if we can create a
UNICODE PST and fail if that is not the case.

We also don't use the same PST we use in the delivery location. SharePoint
folders will have their own PST that will be created the first time you
link a SharePoint list to Outlook for a given profile.

If you try to create a PST file in Outlook and only get 1 option then you
will have the problem, you need to have Outlook setup to default to Unicode
PST creation.

One of our team member is having Outlook 2003, when I created a Team
Site and granted permission to a user as 'Web Designer' - a link is
sent to the user by way of an email to access the team site. But when
the user tries to load the link the below error occurs.
Error Message:
"The link could not be created. You cannot connect to a wondows
sharepoint services site with an outlook 97-2002 personal folders
files (.pst)"
Please advice me as to why this error is ocurring. Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Anand.
