Hi all,

I have several portals set up in a shared services environment. One thing I
would like to do is to use one central list to manage some links and then
use that list (in a dataview) in various places on all of the portals. The
issue with this seems to be that lists are not available in the data source
catalog when using a different portal.

For example, lets assume we have PortalA and PortalB set up in a shared
services environment. I create a list on PortalA that I want to be able to
use in a DVWP on PortalB. If I open PortalB with FrontPage and add PortalA
to the Data Source catalog, all I have access to are the Database
Connections, XML Files, Server-side Scripts and XML Web Services - none of
the lists or libraries show up.

So - is there any way to access the lists and/or libraries from a seperate
SharePoint portal (or even a WSS site, if it makes any difference...)?
Perhaps it is something I could get to through a web service (although I am
not a developer, so if this is the case (it needs to be accessed through
something like a Web Service), please also include a pointer to some tips,
demos, webinars, etc. that I could look at).

Thanks,
Joel
