Change in SQL server -> audience/target to error

hi all,
I need to point my portal to a new sql server. I have
copied the databases(sps01_config_db, portal_site,
portal_serv, portal_prof) to the new server and attached
the databases via the sql server enterprise manager.
I have also changed the settings in the central admin to
point to the new server.
however, when I try to display a news web part, it gives
me a 'target to: the value for the target to property
vannot be validated' error.
Any pointers will be much appreciated.
