Re: Sharepoint server 2007

You can install Virtual PC and then install Windows 2003 on the virtual and use the steps highlighted before to set up SharePoint as a stand alone. There are also VPC images on the Microsoft site that will get you most of the way there.

Hi Alex,

From your description, you're going to setup a standalone MOSS environment
for development. As for the problem you encountered, it is due o the
operating system requirement of MOSS 2007 which require windows 2003 server
operating system. You can get the detailed installation requirement in the
following page:

#Determine hardware and software requirements (Office SharePoint Server)
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262485.aspx

Also, for setup a standard alone MOSS box, you can have a look at this
article too:

#Install Office SharePoint Server 2007 on a stand-alone computer
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc263202.aspx

Also, since MOSS server has high requirement on performance, I think 2GB
RAM is really recommended.

Sincerely,

Steven Cheng
