Sharing lists across SharePoint Sites

I'm sorry that I don't have something better to add because I am searching for the same procedure. In SharePoint 2007 it mentions in several places that this is possible, though I cannot find a procedure for it, and the testing I have done on site/subsite sharing have not yielded any positive results.
