Specific Description
Under general guidance, modifies moderately complex applications programs
from detailed specifications. Codes, tests, debug, and documents and
maintains those programs. Competent to work on most phases of applications
programming activities, but requires instruction and guidance in phases.
Prefer candidate with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer
Information Systems, Management Information Systems, etc.and experience in
software development and support in a client/Server/Web environment. Shall
have experience in programming web-based applications to include Microsoft
SharePoint. Specific experience in ASP .NET, Microsoft SQL, CSS, and
SharePoint is required, and an understanding of C#, XSLT, XML and other W3C
standards is preferred. Shall have experience and understanding of commercial
collaboration, content management, knowledge management systems and
techniques. Shall have expertise using SharePoint and related web-based
applications and associated technologies. Shall have demonstrated knowledge
of computer systems analysis and debugging methods and current techniques for
troubleshooting applications and systems problems. Shall have demonstrated
ability to install, configure, and modify software packages related to
Microsoft SharePoint, SQL and related applications. Knowledge of tools for
software development, installation, and maintenance related to Microsoft
SharePoint, SQL. Shall have knowledge of scripting and programming languages.
Demonstrated experience writing scripts and programs to automate, organize,
and perform systems administration duties more efficiently. Shall have
demonstrated understanding of computer security and information assurance
policies, procedures and practices of the DOD, Department of Army and Ft.
Leavenworth Directorate of Information Management. Must have an unrestricted
right to work in the U.S. Eligible candidates must be able to obtain and
maintain a Secret security clearance which involves successfully passing a
government background investigation to have access to classified information.
General Position Description
Plans, conducts, and coordinates programming application activities. Writes
business applications computer software that contains logical and
mathematical solutions to business problems or questions. Develops statements
of problems, designs systems and programs, and writes programs in computer
language for solution by means of data processing equipment. Applies
knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed
in business applications, information processing techniques used, and
information gathered from system users to develop software. Corrects program
errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program
development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program
intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques,
and controls.
Typical Minimums
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or
equivalent experience/combined education, with 2 years of professional
experience; or no experience required with a related Masters degree.
Considered experienced, but still a learner.
