Re: Should I update OWSPERS directly?

The main reason for not updating the CSS files directly is that they can be
overwritten during service pack or even hot fix installs. If you make sure
you have a back-up copy of your changes then I see no reason not to change
the file directly. Just make sure to compare your changes to the files
again if they get overwritten to make sure you are not erasing any new
information that may be needed.

Hello all,
I've read in most articles that updating the standard SharePoint
stylesheets
is generally frowned upon, and I fully appreciate this and have created a
separate style*** for customising the look and feel of our SharePoint
installation. However, I'd like 'My site' to use the same styles. Now, I
see
that my custom style*** is not output whenever I view the 'My site',
which
leaves me thinking that the only way round this is to copy my custom
styles
into OWSPERS.css too. Is this correct? Seems to me it can't be the right
way
of doing things as I now have to update styles in two places, and am
subject
to the OWSPERS.css file being replaced with any service packs.
Can anyone point me in the right direction on this?
Many thanks,
Scott
