No alert on PDF document upload

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hi All

Has anyone had this problem where an alert is not generated when an
upload of a PDF document is done. The alerts are set to be daily and
work for all new uploades and changes to current documents but if a PDF
is uploaded then no alert occurs.
I have added the PDF icon so now the correct icons are displayed in the
document library but the alert issues is still the same.
