Re: modifying default.aspx for SPS portal

The only way I know of is to modify the "default.aspx" file for the SPS home
page located at:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server
extensions\60\TEMPLATE\1033\SPS
and comment out the line that reads
<SPSWC:CategoryNavigationWebPart runat="server" id="VerticalNavBar"
DisplayStyle="VerticalOneLayer" />
That will remove it (assuming that you have not modified your home page in
Frontpage and ghosted it)
