Ok, I finally figured it out. The Administrator account on both PCs happened
to have the same password. Apparently, for the automatic login, only the
"Administrator" part of "LOCAL\Administrator" is used and this is why I am
getting authenticated as SHAREPOINT\Administrator on the portal site. I
changed the password for SHAREPOINT\Administrator which solved the problem.
Is this behavior by design? If so, is it documented somwhere -- I may need
to start adding to my reading list.
Thanks,
pjp
