Hi,
I've had numerous problems with installing SharePoint 2003 Windows 2003 Web
Edition. Anyway, when I go to the "SharePoint Portal Server" Administration
page (http://XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:17012/sps/Default.aspx) I get the following
error:
"Unable to load DLL (dFastlog.dll)." Why is this? The weird thing is that
"Windows SharePoint Services Central Administration" does not show any errors
and appears to be in order.

Also, every now and then a user will get an error right after logging into
SharePoint. Refreshing the page in the Internet Explorer lets the user
through, but the following error message is logged in the Application Event
Viewer:
Source:SharePoint Portal Server
Type:Error
Category:None
Event ID:101
User:N/A
Description: An error occured while initializing the portal application cache.

What does this mean? I have found no relevant information in the SharePoint
help files or on the internet.

I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me. We really need to get
a Portal Server going. There must be a way to do this on a Web Edition
server. According to Microsoft, it should be possible!

Kind regards,
Michalis Sarigiannidis

History (Skip if you think it's irrelevant):
I've found that SharePoint 2003 will not install the SQL Database Engine on
the Web Edition, and the only SQL server available has to be contacted
through SQL authentication. Creating a configuration database was therefore
rather cumbersome. I'm mentioning this "Web Edition" deviation because it's
the only difference I'm aware of between this installation and others I've
made on Enterprise Editions which were successful. What is wrong? Why can't I
access the portal admin? I've compared the Enterprise Edition registry with
this one and everything seems to be where it should be. dFastlog.dll is also
where it should be. I've installed the latest updates and service packs, but
they don't solve this. Googling dFastLog.dll gives only a couple of pages on
the service pack but no useful information.
