Hi:

IE 6.0 and/or my desktop XP PC are passing the incorrect user credentials to
SharePoint. When I browse to our SharePoint production site I am receiving
the following error in Internet Explorer 6.0 “The Local Security Authority
cannot be contacted”. This started to occur when I surfed our SharePoint
Administration site and was prompted to enter the System Administration
Logon/Password. I provided this Logon/Password and clicked yes for IE to
remember these credentials. I soon found out that this account was the
SharePoint machine service account and that our AD policy does not allow
remote logins with this account. I then tried clearing this account from IE
6.0 (Tools/Internet Options/Content AutoComplete\Clear Forms and Passwords,
Tools/Internet Options/Delete Cookies and Files and Tools/Internet
Options/Advance - Unchecked Use Inline AutoComplete). I also installed XP SP2
to try to correct this issue. However IE 6.0 and my desktop XP PC are still
passing the incorrect user credentials to our production SharePoint Portal. I
can verify this by reviewing the Production SharePoint Sever’s Security Event
Logs. The administrator logon/password that I have previously saved in IE is
still being passed to SharePoint production server and not my normal user
name and password. This only occurs when browsing to our production
SharePoint system and not our test SharePoint system (note: I did not save
any Logon/Password credentials when browsing to our test SharePoint system
and the test SharePoint Sever’s Security Event Logs shows the correct user
name and password. Also, both the production and test SharePoint systems are
on the same network and AD. Would anyone know how to correct this issue?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
