Re: Delete file in use by another process using wsh

The app is not running when we do so.

This would be guaranteed to get you into
more trouble with the client than violating your client.
Oh, you are so much better than me...

I suggest "social engineering", in plain English: talk to the
client.
Thanks for translating.
We do so.
Work on YOUR social engineering, mate.
In plain English: don't be so rude to always assume the
original poster is stupid.

If the client needs the work you are doing, then he/she
should be willing to "work-with-you".
They do.
But sometimes a process keeps the files open although no one
is working on the files anymore (Access Runtimes that did not
properly close, stuck citrix clients and so on).
We check on the server who's connected to the db and
to the applications and inform all users about our updates via
a built in service module. And even if we do it at night and
no client pc is running.... guess what... the application files
sometimes stay locked.

If you need to install something, then the client should be willing
to understand that,
Full ack. The client is understanding.

regardless of what the contract says.
The contract just brings one limitation: we cannot install any
applications that require installation or licenses. We ARE
(by contract and by talking) allowed to use our own apps
and thirdparty apps as long as they don't need installation.
So we can keep them in our protected folders and no one
else (but the admins) can access them. The client knows
about everything we do on his servers and agrees to our
need for a tool to replace the main app.

If you are looking for some techie "back-door" means of
circumventing the terms of your contract,
No, why do you think so?
Paranoid attitude, bad experiences, general disrespectfullness?

and then playing "Pontius Pilot" (my hands are clean), then
good luck. And by the way, don't ever attempt to bid on any
of our work.
My deepest sympathy to those who have to work with you.

Have a nice day and relax a little...
Mark
