Okey-dokey..

So,there's no internet browser on the 95 machine?

It does look like you're going to be going to a cyber
cafe, unless you have a CD rewriter-or perhaps your
friends son does?He might actually be the best person to
offer advice, since he built the system.I don't think
downloading and re-installing I.E. (complete with O.E.)
is impossible...never tried it on 95...never even seen a
95!

The modem connection is a separate issue-that doesn't
depend on the browser. You'll just have to reset the
connections within the browser.

"So we now have no IE no connection at all via BT
>Internet"-do you literally mean your BT internet
connection is not functioning,either?

Tucows offers a free browser that has a 95 version:

http://www.tucows.com/preview/344922.html

You could download it,burn it on to CD along with the
Avast! anti-virus.Install the tucows browser from the CD
you created, along with the Avast.Reset the internet
connections for said browser, download the latest
definitions for Avast.Run a complete scan of the O.S.?

The I.E./O.E. might have been old versions, which is most
likely how the virus/malware got in.

You know,it might be wise to cut and paste what you have
already typed, then post it under an alternative heading.

"Browser/Client for win 95"?

I am sorry,I can't offer any real help.I am sure there
must be loads of I.T. seniors who'd love the chance to
take a trip down memory lane, though.Try it.

Best of luck-let me know if it works out,

Sadie
