Hello,John,
Were you getting any "shutdown" notices?Exact wording
would be helpful.
If not,I am going to stick my neck out here and request
that you wait for analyses of W32Cycle.a to be completed.
(see post directly below yours)
Over the last few days, lots of people have been hit by
something which does not conform to the pattern of
Sasser. These people have regardless run the sasser fix
and ended up in a worse pickle."Stinger" does not seem to
detect it,either.
However,if Norton's analysis was correct,and it is a
Sasser variant, updated definitions might take care of it:
Stinger:
http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/
Trend:
http://housecall.antivirus.com
http://housecall.trendmicro.com
McAfee:
http://www.mcafee.com/myapps/mfs/default.asp
Panda:
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/
If offered an option to quarentine or delete, opt for
delete.
IF you cannot stay online long enough to complete the
scan, please download and run Stinger (Best saved to
floppy):
Please post back for further assistance/if this was no
help.
